All BC secondary school students who plan to apply for admission to UBC for September 2009 (Vancouver or Okanagan campus) will not be required to present the provincial exam component of courses used in the calculation of the admission average (of course, the exception is English 12, where the provincial examination is still mandatory). This includes current Grade 12 students who plan to take a year off and Grade 11 students currently taking a Grade 12 provincially examinable course. 

Again, this is for 2009 admission only; BC Ministry of Education provincial examinations are still required for all BC secondary school students intending to gain admission to UBC Vancouver or UBC Okanagan in 2008 (including students who wish to gain admission to UBC in 2008 but defer attendance until 2009 (see https://you.ubc.ca/ubc/shared/defer.ezc)).
