Provincial Exams
Hi
Dave,
I have received the official language and it includes a revision in our
position in that the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering will also no longer
require the Provincial Exams. I have ammended the statement you provided
(though for your informaiton your original was incomplete .. part of the
statement was cut off).
As of the 2008 Admission cycle, the University of Toronto will no longer be requiring
the BC provincial Exams. The University of Toronto will continue to
require five grade 12 courses, of which 4 most be provincially examinable. The
fifth subject must be academic in content.
Below is the URL to the admission section of our viewbook:

Please let me know if you require anything further.
Regards, Anne Rose

Hi Dave,
I rec'd your email earlier this week regarding the Provincial Exam
requirements. I am waiting to hear back from our Admissions Office as I
wanted to make sure we were using the "right langauge". I hope
to get the official response to you asap. In the meantime, for most of
our programs yes we want 4 of the 5 grade 12 course to be in provincially
examinable courses and the 5th must be academic in content. Engineering,
for 2008, is still requiring the provincial exam results.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further
questions. I will pass the official language on to you as soon as I
receive it.
Regards,
Anne Rose

Can you clarify for me….I realize that students from BC must use
grade 12 courses that HAVE a provincial exam, but are students required to
write the provincial exams—thus submit their provincial exam marks to be
eligible for admissions…
A number of post-secondary institutions have stated that they
require provincial examable courses, but have said the provincial exam mark is
not needed to make an admissions decision….
Please check out our Prov exam resource web page regarding the
positions of other institutions in BC and across Canada….

Hi Veryan,
Right not only our Engineering program requires the Provincial exams - though 4
of the 5 Grade 12 courses that are required for all our progams must be
"provincially examinable".
Hope this helps.
